The purpose of C.A.P.E. is to promote the professionalism of property and evidence processing within the State of California through the coordination of information and the networking of local assocations and individual agencies responsible for handling property and evidence.
Our primary objectives are:
- To provide for the educational exchange of operational and technical information of potential benefit to the membership.
- To advise the membership of current or pending legislation that may impact the property and evidence function.
- To provide for the research, collection, exchange and dissemination of information relative to the property and evidence function.
- To promote the standardization of property and evidence management and control.
- To solicit opinions to clarify current laws or pending legislation.
- To achieve professionalism of property personnel and to support high standards of performance in the discharge of their tasks.
- To assist with the forming of local Chapters of C.A.P.E.
Regular Voting Members are dues-paying individuals who are actively employed or honorably retired from employment from any law enforcement agency within the State of California, who are or were employed in the processing and retention of property and evidence for any criminal justice agency within the State of California, and who are interested in the purposes and objectives of C.A.P.E.
